Rumors about the New iPhones in 2018

Since we have been talking about the iPhones in 2018 even before we hold the iPhone X in our hand, today I would like to introduce you all the information about the next generation of iPhone. I just pick up all the rumors and talk about what we can expect in the iPhones Apple will release in 2018. As we don’t have any clue of the name of the next generation of iPhone, so I just call it iPhone 2018 because it will be released in 2018. Now let’s see what we know about iPhone 2018.

It is rumored that Apple is going to release 3 models of iPhone in 2018. Two of them will be equipped with OLED display with 5.8 and 6.5-inch. The first one will be the second generation of iPhone X which is released in 2017. The second one can be seen as “iPhone X Plus”. The last one will be a 6.1-inch iPhone with edge to edge LCD display. It will cost lower price than the iPhones with OLED display. The screen of this lower-end iPhone 2018 will be Full Active LCD display which is better than iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus’.

As what I have said at the beginning of this article, I would like to call it iPhone 2018. But let’s have a guess. Learning from the naming of iPhone, it maybe iPhone 11/iPhone 11 Plus or iPhone XI/iPhone XI Plus. What about iPhone with 6.1-inch LCD? iPhone 9? Actually, I don’t really care about the name of them. We can talk about it, but it doesn’t matter if we are wrong. I think Apple will have a new naming scheme for their new iPhones in 2018.

OLED Display:

The OLED display of the next generation iPhone in 2018 will be supplied by Samsung and LG Display. Also Sharp will be another choice for extra supply. 5.8-inch display will have 458 pixels per inch indicating the same 1125*2436 resolution. The 6.5-inch one will have 480 or 500 pixels per inch as reported. Both of them will be edge-to-edge display and equipped with TrueDepth camera, glass bodies for wireless charging and dual-lens rear cameras.

The 6.1-inch LCD display will keep the price lower. It will have 320 to 330 pixels per inch with Full Active LCDs from Japan Display. The resolution will be 2160*1080 with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

All of the three display will be edge-to-edge, so 2017 will be the last year of Home button and Touch ID. Apple will apply FaceID in all its iPhone lineup in 2018.

According to the report of Ming-Chi Kuo, the 5.8-inch iPhone will use the one-cell L-shaped battery. While 6.5-inch iPhone will continue to use the two-cell L-shaped battery used in iPhone X. The battery’s capacity in 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will be 2900 to 3000 mAh and the 6.5-inch one’s will be 3300 to 3400 mAh.

Face ID and TrueDepth cameras are expected to be introduced in all the iPhone lineup in 2018. Also, Apple will bring users A12 processor and OLED iPhone models will have 4GB of RAM and LCD one will have 3GB. Many analysts believe Apple will stop using Qualcomm LTE chips due to the legal dispute. They point out that Apple will use Intel lineup or a mix of Intel and MediaTek chips. But Ming-Chi Kuo still believe Apple will continue the use of Qualcomm and Intel LTE modems on iPhone 2018.

The next generation of iPhone will be debut in September as usual in 2018 and offered for sale shortly afterwards. Besides design and advanced technology, many iPhone users would like to have a better data secure solution other than iCloud and iTunes backup. If they accidentally delete some important data on their iPhone, they can hardly recover them without losing data. So if Apple could provide a better solution to recover deleted data on iPhone, it’s really a surprise for us.
